The Pains of Being Pure At Heart

Every now and then there's a band that pops up whose sheer enthusiasm in making music, that joy in finding the RIGHT songs and playing them the RIGHT way is so obvious that it's just contagious. The Pains of Being Pure At Heart is one of those bands. Since forming in early 2007, the Pains have released a handful of EPs and compilation tracks on classy labels like Slumberland, Atomic Beat and Cloudberry, each one issued to greater anticipation and even wilder reception. The band's breathless noise-pop sound has garnered them critical acclaim from such quarters as Stereogum, Big Takeover, Skatterbrain, Indie Pages, Drowned In Sound, Indie-MP3, Clash Magazine and uncountable others.

2008 saw the band shift into overdrive, releasing a sold-out single of Everything With You in the Fall, followed by tours of Sweden and the UK, the latter supporting The Wedding Present. Somewhere in the course if this very busy year they found time to record their debut full-length album. Tracked at Honeyland studios in their home of Brooklyn and mixed by indie-pop legend Archie Moore (Velocity Girl/Black Tambourine), The Pains of Being Pure At Heart is one of the most eagerly-anticipated albums of 2009. And it will no doubt be considered on the best, handily delivering on all the promise of those singles and live gigs and cementing The Pains of Being Pure At Heart's status as one of the most exciting bands around today.
